Description
The Pediococcus real-time qPCR detection kit from Primerdesign provides detection of Pediococcus, lactic-acid bacteria that spoil wine by producing off-flavours, ropiness and biogenic amines, especially when malolactic fermentation is poorly controlled. The TaqMan-based assay targets a conserved region of the genus for sensitive detection directly from extracted DNA, enabling early winery intervention.
Each kit supplies a ready-to-use primer and probe mix together with a positive control template, providing a complete workflow from extracted DNA on any standard real-time PCR platform. The Advanced format additionally includes an internal extraction control to flag inhibition and a copy-number standard curve for absolute quantification of the target sequence.
Key features of the Pediococcus kit
- Real-time qPCR (TaqMan) genus-level detection of Pediococcus
- Targets a key wine-spoilage lactic-acid bacterium
- Sensitive early detection before sensory spoilage develops
- Primer/probe mix and positive control template included
- Advanced format adds an internal extraction control and a quantification standard
- Compatible with standard real-time PCR instruments
It is ideally suited to winery quality control, malolactic-fermentation monitoring and cellar hygiene. Available in Standard (qualitative) and Advanced (quantitative) formats, with detailed set-up and result interpretation described in the included IFU/handbook.
