Description
The Pectinatus spp. real-time qPCR detection kit from Primerdesign provides detection of Pectinatus, strictly anaerobic beer-spoilage bacteria that cause turbidity and pronounced rotten-egg (hydrogen sulphide) off-odours, an increasing problem as oxygen levels in packaged beer fall. The TaqMan-based assay targets a conserved region of the genus for sensitive detection directly from extracted DNA, enabling early brewery intervention.
Each kit supplies a ready-to-use primer and probe mix together with a positive control template, providing a complete workflow from extracted DNA on any standard real-time PCR platform. The Advanced format additionally includes an internal extraction control to flag inhibition and a copy-number standard curve for absolute quantification of the target sequence.
Key features of the Pectinatus spp kit
- Real-time qPCR (TaqMan) genus-level detection of Pectinatus
- Targets strict-anaerobe beer-spoilage bacteria
- Sensitive detection that avoids slow anaerobic culture
- Primer/probe mix and positive control template included
- Advanced format adds an internal extraction control and a quantification standard
- Compatible with standard real-time PCR instruments
It is ideally suited to brewery quality control, process hygiene and finished-product monitoring. Available in Standard (qualitative) and Advanced (quantitative) formats, with detailed set-up and result interpretation described in the included IFU/handbook.
