Description
The Dog (Canis familiaris) real-time qPCR speciation kit from Primerdesign provides specific identification of dog DNA in meat, pet-food and processed food products. Detecting undeclared or unexpected canine material supports food-authenticity investigation, pet-food labelling and supply-chain integrity. The TaqMan-based assay targets a dog-specific genomic sequence for robust detection even in processed and heat-treated samples.
Each kit supplies a ready-to-use primer and probe mix together with a positive control template, providing a complete workflow from extracted DNA on any standard real-time PCR platform. The Advanced format additionally includes an internal extraction control to flag inhibition and a copy-number standard curve for absolute quantification of the target.
Key features of the Dog (Canis familiaris) kit
- Real-time qPCR (TaqMan) detection of dog (Canis familiaris) DNA
- Species-specific target with no cross-reactivity to common food species
- Robust detection in raw, processed and heat-treated matrices
- Primer/probe mix and positive control template included
- Advanced format adds an internal extraction control and a quantification standard
- Compatible with standard real-time PCR instruments
It is ideally suited to food-authenticity testing, pet-food verification and supply-chain quality control. Available in Standard (qualitative) and Advanced (quantitative) formats, with detailed set-up and result interpretation described in the included IFU/handbook.
