Description
The Norovirus (oyster specific) real-time qPCR detection kit from Primerdesign provides sensitive detection of norovirus optimised for oyster and bivalve shellfish matrices, where this RNA virus is the leading cause of shellfish-associated gastroenteritis. The assay uses one-step RT real-time PCR to detect a conserved region of the norovirus genome from extracted RNA, supporting reliable monitoring despite the inhibitory nature of shellfish tissue.
Each kit supplies a ready-to-use primer and probe mix with a positive control template and is run as a one-step RT-qPCR, providing a complete workflow from extracted RNA on any standard real-time PCR platform. The Advanced format additionally includes an internal extraction control to flag inhibition and a copy-number standard curve for absolute quantification of viral load.
