Description
The Horse (Equus caballus) real-time qPCR speciation kit from Primerdesign provides specific identification of horse DNA in meat and processed food products. Following high-profile adulteration cases, sensitive detection of undeclared horsemeat is a priority for food-authenticity and food-fraud testing. The TaqMan-based assay targets a horse-specific genomic sequence and discriminates horse from donkey, giving robust detection even in minced and heat-treated samples.
Each kit supplies a ready-to-use primer and probe mix together with a positive control template, providing a complete workflow from extracted DNA on any standard real-time PCR platform. The Advanced format additionally includes an internal extraction control to flag inhibition and a copy-number standard curve for absolute quantification of the target sequence.
Key features of the Horse (Equus caballus) kit
- Real-time qPCR (TaqMan) detection of horse (E. caballus) DNA
- Species-specific target that discriminates horse from donkey
- Robust detection in raw, processed and heat-treated matrices
- Primer/probe mix and positive control template included
- Advanced format adds an internal extraction control and a quantification standard
- Compatible with standard real-time PCR instruments
It is ideally suited to food-fraud investigation, authenticity testing and supply-chain quality control. Available in Standard (qualitative) and Advanced (quantitative) formats, with detailed set-up and result interpretation described in the included IFU/handbook.
