Description
The Acanthamoeba real-time qPCR detection kit from Primerdesign provides detection of Acanthamoeba, a free-living amoeba found in water systems that can cause Acanthamoeba keratitis and serious infections, and which also harbours other waterborne pathogens. The TaqMan-based assay targets a conserved region of the genus for sensitive detection directly from extracted DNA, supporting water-safety risk assessment.
Each kit supplies a ready-to-use primer and probe mix together with a positive control template, providing a complete workflow from extracted DNA on any standard real-time PCR platform. The Advanced format additionally includes an internal extraction control to flag inhibition and a copy-number standard curve for absolute quantification of the target sequence.
Key features of the Acanthamoeba kit
- Real-time qPCR (TaqMan) genus-level detection of Acanthamoeba
- Broad coverage of waterborne Acanthamoeba
- Sensitive detection supporting water-safety control
- Primer/probe mix and positive control template included
- Advanced format adds an internal extraction control and a quantification standard
- Compatible with standard real-time PCR instruments
It is ideally suited to water-safety testing, building water-system monitoring and quality control. Available in Standard (qualitative) and Advanced (quantitative) formats, with detailed set-up and result interpretation described in the included IFU/handbook.
