Description
The Photobacterium damselae piscicida real-time qPCR detection kit from Primerdesign enables fast and specific detection of Photobacterium damselae subsp. piscicida, the causative agent of fish pasteurellosis (pseudotuberculosis) in tilapia and many cultured marine species. Because this subspecies is closely related to subsp. damselae yet differs in clinical impact, accurate subspecies-level identification is important for correct diagnosis and management. The TaqMan-based assay targets a conserved, subspecies-specific sequence to distinguish it reliably from extracted nucleic acid.
Each kit supplies a ready-to-use primer and probe mix together with a positive control template, providing a complete workflow from extracted DNA on any standard real-time PCR platform. The Advanced format additionally includes an internal extraction control to flag inhibition and a copy-number standard curve for absolute quantification of pathogen load.
Key features of the Photobacterium damselae piscicida kit
- Real-time qPCR (TaqMan) detection of P. damselae subsp. piscicida
- Differentiates the piscicida subspecies with high specificity
- Sensitive detection for early diagnosis and subclinical carriers
- Primer/probe mix and positive control template included
- Advanced format adds an internal extraction control and a quantification standard
- Compatible with standard real-time PCR instruments
It supports aquaculture diagnostics, fish-health monitoring and biosecurity testing in tilapia and marine finfish production. Available in Standard (qualitative) and Advanced (quantitative) formats, with the detailed protocol and interpretation provided in the included IFU/handbook.
