Description

The Mycobacterium avium real-time qPCR detection kit from Primerdesign provides specific detection of Mycobacterium avium, an opportunistic, biofilm-associated mycobacterium that colonises water-distribution and plumbing systems and can cause infection in vulnerable people. The TaqMan-based assay targets a species-specific region for sensitive detection directly from extracted DNA, avoiding the very slow culture this organism requires.

Each kit supplies a ready-to-use primer and probe mix together with a positive control template, providing a complete workflow from extracted DNA on any standard real-time PCR platform. The Advanced format additionally includes an internal extraction control to flag inhibition and a copy-number standard curve for absolute quantification of pathogen load.
