Description
The Clostridium botulinum real-time qPCR detection kit from Primerdesign provides specific detection of Clostridium botulinum, the spore-forming bacterium whose botulinum neurotoxins cause botulism, a rare but life-threatening foodborne hazard, particularly in canned, vacuum-packed and preserved foods. The TaqMan-based assay targets the toxin-associated genes for sensitive detection directly from extracted nucleic acid, supporting food-safety risk assessment.
Each kit supplies a ready-to-use primer and probe mix together with a positive control template, providing a complete workflow from extracted DNA on any standard real-time PCR platform. The Advanced format additionally includes an internal extraction control to flag inhibition and a copy-number standard curve for absolute quantification of pathogen load.
Key features of the Clostridium botulinum kit
- Real-time qPCR (TaqMan) detection of Clostridium botulinum
- Targets toxin-associated genes with high specificity
- Sensitive detection supporting food-safety risk assessment
- Primer/probe mix and positive control template included
- Advanced format adds an internal extraction control and a quantification standard
- Compatible with standard real-time PCR instruments
It is ideally suited to food-safety testing of preserved and packaged foods and to quality control. Available in Standard (qualitative) and Advanced (quantitative) formats, with detailed set-up and result interpretation described in the included IFU/handbook.
