Description
The Piscirickettsia salmonis real-time qPCR detection kit from Primerdesign delivers fast, specific detection of Piscirickettsia salmonis, the intracellular bacterium responsible for piscirickettsiosis (salmonid rickettsial septicaemia, SRS) and one of the most economically damaging diseases of farmed salmon, particularly in Chile. The TaqMan-based assay targets a conserved, species-specific region for confident detection directly from extracted nucleic acid.
Each kit supplies a ready-to-use primer and probe mix together with a positive control template, providing a complete workflow from extracted DNA on any standard real-time PCR platform. The Advanced format additionally includes an internal extraction control to flag inhibition and a copy-number standard curve for absolute quantification of pathogen load.
Key features of the Piscirickettsia salmonis kit
- Real-time qPCR (TaqMan) detection of Piscirickettsia salmonis
- Species-specific target with high analytical specificity
- Sensitive detection supporting early diagnosis and carrier screening
- Primer/probe mix and positive control template included
- Advanced format adds an internal extraction control and a quantification standard
- Compatible with standard real-time PCR instruments
It is ideally suited to salmon aquaculture diagnostics, treatment monitoring and biosecurity surveillance. Available in Standard (qualitative) and Advanced (quantitative) formats, with detailed set-up and result interpretation described in the included IFU/handbook.
