Description
The Infectious Spleen and Kidney Necrosis Virus (ISKNV) real-time qPCR detection kit from Primerdesign provides specific detection of ISKNV, a megalocytivirus (DNA virus, family Iridoviridae) and notifiable pathogen that causes systemic necrosis and high mortality across many marine and freshwater cultured fish. The TaqMan-based assay targets a conserved region of the viral DNA genome for confident detection directly from extracted nucleic acid.
Each kit supplies a ready-to-use primer and probe mix together with a positive control template, providing a complete workflow from extracted DNA on any standard real-time PCR platform. The Advanced format additionally includes an internal extraction control to flag inhibition and a copy-number standard curve for absolute quantification of pathogen load.
Key features of the Infectious Spleen and Kidney Necrosis Virus kit
- Real-time qPCR (TaqMan) detection of ISKNV DNA
- Specific target within the megalocytiviruses
- Sensitive detection for diagnostics and biosecurity surveillance
- Primer/probe mix and positive control template included
- Advanced format adds an internal extraction control and a quantification standard
- Compatible with standard real-time PCR instruments
It is ideally suited to aquaculture diagnostics, ornamental-fish screening and import/export biosecurity. Available in Standard (qualitative) and Advanced (quantitative) formats, with detailed set-up and result interpretation described in the included IFU/handbook.
