Description

The Megasphaera cerevisiae / Megasphaera elsdenii real-time qPCR detection kit from Primerdesign provides detection of these strictly anaerobic beer-spoilage bacteria, which produce butyric and other sour, sulphurous off-flavours and turbidity, particularly in low-alcohol and unpasteurised beers. The TaqMan-based assay targets species-specific regions for sensitive detection directly from extracted DNA, enabling early brewery intervention.

Each kit supplies a ready-to-use primer and probe mix together with a positive control template, providing a complete workflow from extracted DNA on any standard real-time PCR platform. The Advanced format additionally includes an internal extraction control to flag inhibition and a copy-number standard curve for absolute quantification of the target sequence.
