Description
The Piscine myocarditis virus (PMCV) real-time qPCR detection kit from Primerdesign provides specific detection of PMCV, the totivirus-like RNA virus associated with cardiomyopathy syndrome (CMS), a serious heart disease of farmed Atlantic salmon that typically strikes large fish near harvest. The assay uses one-step RT real-time PCR to detect a conserved region of the viral genome from extracted RNA.
Each kit supplies a ready-to-use primer and probe mix with a positive control template and is run as a one-step RT-qPCR, providing a complete workflow from extracted RNA on any standard real-time PCR platform. The Advanced format additionally includes an internal extraction control to flag inhibition and a copy-number standard curve for absolute quantification of viral load.
Key features of the Piscine myocarditis virus kit
- One-step RT real-time qPCR detection of PMCV RNA
- Specific target with high analytical specificity
- Sensitive detection supporting CMS diagnosis and monitoring
- Primer/probe mix and positive control template included
- Advanced format adds an internal extraction control and a quantification standard
- Compatible with standard real-time PCR instruments
It is ideally suited to salmon aquaculture diagnostics, heart-health investigation and biosecurity surveillance. Available in Standard (qualitative) and Advanced (quantitative) formats, with the complete protocol and result interpretation provided in the included IFU/handbook.
