Description
The Potato mop-top virus (PMTV) real-time qPCR detection kit from Primerdesign provides specific detection of potato mop-top virus, an RNA virus that causes spraing (internal tuber necrosis) and serious quality loss in potato, transmitted by the powdery-scab organism Spongospora subterranea. The assay uses one-step RT real-time PCR to detect a conserved region of the viral genome from extracted RNA, supporting seed-potato testing and certification.
Each kit supplies a ready-to-use primer and probe mix with a positive control template and is run as a one-step RT-qPCR, providing a complete workflow from extracted RNA on any standard real-time PCR platform. The Advanced format additionally includes an internal extraction control to flag inhibition and a copy-number standard curve for absolute quantification of viral load.
Key features of the Potato mop-top virus (PMTV) kit
- One-step RT real-time qPCR detection of PMTV RNA
- Specific target with high analytical specificity
- Sensitive detection in tubers and plant tissue
- Primer/probe mix and positive control template included
- Advanced format adds an internal extraction control and a quantification standard
- Compatible with standard real-time PCR instruments
It is ideally suited to seed-potato testing, certification and plant-pathology diagnostics. Available in Standard (qualitative) and Advanced (quantitative) formats, with the complete protocol and result interpretation provided in the included IFU/handbook.
