Description
The Pig (Sus scrofa) real-time qPCR speciation kit from Primerdesign provides specific identification of porcine DNA in meat and processed food products. Sensitive pork detection is critical for food-authenticity testing and for verifying halal and kosher claims, where the absence of porcine material must be demonstrated. The TaqMan-based assay targets a pig-specific genomic sequence for robust detection even in minced and heat-treated samples.
Each kit supplies a ready-to-use primer and probe mix together with a positive control template, providing a complete workflow from extracted DNA on any standard real-time PCR platform. The Advanced format additionally includes an internal extraction control to flag inhibition and a copy-number standard curve for absolute quantification of the target sequence.
Key features of the Pig (Sus scrofa) kit
- Real-time qPCR (TaqMan) detection of pig (S. scrofa) DNA
- Species-specific target with high sensitivity for trace pork
- Robust detection in raw, processed and heat-treated matrices
- Primer/probe mix and positive control template included
- Advanced format adds an internal extraction control and a quantification standard
- Compatible with standard real-time PCR instruments
It is ideally suited to halal/kosher verification, food-authenticity testing and supply-chain quality control. Available in Standard (qualitative) and Advanced (quantitative) formats, with detailed set-up and result interpretation described in the included IFU/handbook.
